My name is Mary Rubyann Forbes, a true‑born Turks Islander with deep North Caicos roots, and everything I create comes straight from the belly of my culture. I am a writer, music creator, storyteller, and Talk Bush Talk woman who loves turning everyday island life into poetry, songs, and folklore that feel like home.

Alongside my creative work, I also serve as a Retail Manager at COMO Parrot Cay, where I bring the same sense of culture, detail, and island pride into my professional life. Working in a space that welcomes people from all over the world reminds me daily how special our heritage is — and how important it is to keep our stories alive.

I grew up on bush wisdom, Paw Paw Joe stories, ripsaw rhythms, gospel music, and the kind of old‑time laughter that shape you into who you are. Those things never left me. They live in my pen, my voice, and my imagination. When I write or create music, I pull from my people, my childhood, my memories, and the sweet spirit of the islands.

I create ripsaw‑style pieces, cultural poems, ghost romance stories, pirate legends, emotional reggae works, gospel tributes, and full dialect heritage pieces that celebrate who we are as Turks Islanders. My work is a mix of fantasy, folklore, island humor, and deep emotional truth — all wrapped up in that bush‑talk flavor I love.

I create to preserve our culture, to honor our ancestors, and to keep our stories alive. Every piece I make carries the salt breeze, the bush sound, the straw‑work spirit, and the heartbeat of the Turks & Caicos Islands. This is my contribution to our living cultural heritage, and I’m proud to share it.
